Brexit bill passes through Commons without any amendments

The PM is likely to be able to trigger Article 50 by early March 2017 after the Bill cleared the Commons last night (8/2/17) with no changes. It is widely believed that this will make a ‘hard Brexit’ more likely than was previously believed.

MPs appear to have given the PM their backing to start withdrawal talks on her terms. MPs gave their support for Brexit bill by 494 votes to 122. Rob Merrick of ‘The Independent’ suggests  “The Bill is now expected to be given Royal Assent on March 7 – allowing the Prime Minister to formally notify the EU that she is invoking Article 50 at an EU summit later that week”.
